Can you wear boxing shoes outside

Wearing boxing boots during training is not essential if you are training for fitness and conditioning. But if you want to take it to the next level with your footwork, partner work and eventually sparring, boxing shoes are an essential part of you boxing kit and will help your boxing footwork skills improve.

Boxing shoes are used to help you move more quickly, safely and smoothly, they should feel like a second skin, but with support and should feel like you're not wearing shoes at all. Boxing shoes need to weigh a lot less than most athletic shoes, Boxers need to stay lightly on their feet for up to 12 x 3 minute rounds of high intensity boxing, changing direction and moving constantly, so any extra weigh on a boxer feet is unwelcome and will slow a boxers legs which will make the punches slower over the duration of a long bout.

Boxing shoes are design are quite different from you standard gym shoes, the soles are narrow and should not protruded outside line of the boots upper material, this is so if your foot lands on a slight angle on the ground there is less chance of the sole edge gripping the ground and causing you ankle to roll causing an injury. The toe area, usually is inside or wraps up over the toe area this is to stop the toe area of the sole from peeling back with use, one of the reasons for this is that most boxers tend to drag the rear foot to a degree and it is the toe area of the boot that tends to take the extra wear.

If a pair of boots is ever brought back with a sole faulty, having a slight peel I can usually tell if the boxer is an orthodox boxer or a southpaw boxer, because it is always the rear boot that has a fault.

So having the sole glued on the inside of the outer material at the front of the boot will help stop this problem, Adidas boxing boots does this very well. Most boxing shoes have a thin gum style rubber sole that is very light which give you great traction without holding you too firmly to the ground, the soles tread is usually designed with very small thin and slightly raised lines of gum rubber material boxing shoes may not have a built-in arch, like many athletic shoes.

Boxing boots come in both high-top, mid-top and low-top versions. The high-top shoes may provide a little extra support and protection to your ankle. Some boxers prefer the low-top shoes for workouts, as they are easier to get on and are even lighter than high tops. Up until the s boxing boots used to mainly be made from leather both the upper of the boot and even the sole was leather, which did offer a higher degree of ankle support, but they are very hard to find these days.

In fact, if you are a woman looking for boxing shoes, you will have to order a men's size. It is always advisable to go a boxing equipment specialist that has a brick and mortar shop that you can sit down and try them on before purchasing.

If you cannot visit a store, order them from a local store where you can return them and exchange them without too much postage or hassle. This means they do not fair well when being worn on rough, outside surfaces. Wearing your boots outside can damage them and decrease their lifespan and will void their guarantee. Ensure you only wear your boots indoors and in the ring to keep them going longer.

Whilst the way you take care of your boots may differ depending on your boot type and material, the best ways to keep them looking fresh and lasting a long time is by ensuring you clean and maintain them regularly.

If your boots are starting to look a bit sad and worn, take a look at the online store which has hundreds of different boots by some of the biggest brands in boxing, as well as a huge range of other boxing gear and equipment. Got myself a pair of Adidas Ring Wizard because of the brand implying quality and looks. Even though it was mid to high top, the cuff provided little to no support. Also, I found the sole too tapered, making it easy to roll my ankles, although it was light and thin and gave me good movement.

Is that the case of most boxing shoes or did I just pick a bad model? I have rolled both my ankles and rely heavily on my footwork and movements. It is a very light shoe, but I like that, and the fit for me is perfect- literally the best fitting shoe I have ever worn of any type. What do you think about the rematch?

I was definitely surprised that he could beat Klitschko but when I saw some of the replays, it did make some sense. Many of the guys who lost to Klitschko were trying to come in on him with bombs, which is something he was used to. Fury did it by being long and awkward and also had a bit of his own speed and 10 years younger.

I like to think Klitschko was just having an off night and will find a way to just be more aggressive in the rematch and win that easily but a part of me feels Fury will win again and possibly more confidently. I have the Nike Speed sweep and they are good but unfortunately they are a bit narrow for me. I love their new Adidas Adizero boxing boots and also like the Tyguns very much. Any suggestions on a shoe for women? Would you recommend the same shoes for kickboxing? I found your site recently and I really like all the info!

Hey Johnny! Its great to see you back! Love the website! I;ve been boxing for a few years now and have gone through 3 pairs of shoes. Light weight, strong, the soul covering goes above the toes to keep the shoe tight.

I highly recommend at least trying on a few pairs when thinking of buying new boxing boots! Johnny, Surely the biggest factor in how the fit of a boxing shoe feels on the foot is how the shoe is laced up. There are several different ways of lacing. The way that is used is up to the boxer. Trust me, running, jump ropes, do jumps and such is a foot killer when it happens on hard surfaces.

I work out on a heavy bag and speed bag at my local gym. Are boxing shoes ok to wear on a wooden floor surface? Gotta say the sole wear off pretty fast especially if you like to skip the rope alot. Hi i am from Bulgaria and dont know where to buy boxing shoes can you recomend a websait that ships to my country. Very thin sole and zero drop make me feel quick, nimble, and ninja-like.

I think the KSO model would be best for boxing. Not quite…I find their sole to be too thick, stiff, and inflexible compared to boxing soles.

And lastly, their ankle support is non-existent. Can I use the boxing shoes also for running? Some people say that the boxing shoes are only great to use in the boxing gym to do the other stuff except running, such as Skipping rope, Shadow Boxing, Bagwork, etc.

Boxing shoes are definitely not made for running. Their sole is much thinner than the soles on running shoes. So if you use boxing shoes for running, the soles will wear out quickly.

The reebok shoes that floyd wears are very comfortable even if you have wide feet and provude good balance and ankle support you should get a pair jhonny. I know that all equipment and clothing is personal preference, if it is quality gear, but I have used quite a few types of shoes and I have found a different level of enjoyment, even within a brand.

The most comfortable boxing shoes that I have ever worn and most comfortable shoes I have ever worn in my life, were Rival Boxing High Tops. These were so comfortable that I never, ever wanted to take them off and if they made a running shoe, or anything that comfortable for every day wear outside, I would never wear anything else.

I really like Nike and Adidas, but that particular Rival boxing shoe, or boot, if you will, as it is a high top, is like sex on your feet. I honestly had no clue any shoe, of any kind, could be that comfortable and more so, than barefoot. That is just the basic high top Rival and my preference was low tops.

They got that particular one perfect, so I would not rule out a brand of any kind, because one model is uncomfortable.

A different model could be the best, so like the article said, try them all. I do know that person preference is everything, but I do like when somebody notes a particular shoe also and those fit true to your normal comfortable shoe size. I am never hated a Nike or Adidas shoe, but did like some models more than others. Happy shopping! Hi, I have question. I would like to know your opinion. Johnny, I really appreciate. I would like to ask you for your advise about a boxing boot which can support my feet arch since I have too much pain from them?

For outside the ring — training on concrete? Still need pivot and foot work features with partner or heavy bag — but can provide more cushion — support and handle wear and tear. I just got these a few months ago. They are slim around the middle of the foot, and seem to have decent heel support. OK lateral support for a low-top. I like them, so far.

This is just an endorsement from a guy who does mostly indoor bag work on rubber mats, with a lap or two around the building on hard concrete. What a fun shoe! Thanks for the recommendation, John! Awesome boxing shoes guide! I ended up buying a pair of Nike med tops after reading your tips. I also have wide feet and those shoes fit me the best. They feel great on the ring canvas floor and it helps you with the balance aspect enormously. They have very THIN SOLES and little to no arch-heel support so they are great for standing and moving in the ring but not for dynamic or complex movement specially the reebok boots.

Sports shoes are a very important thing as it is our health. Especially that kind of sports that requires running and jumping. I advise you online shop, here is more information about this shop, where you can acquire the best training shoes.

I should have mentioned that. Has anyone encountered any 2E boxing shoes? Love this page keep up the good work. I have mega wide feet, too. Your best bet are Nike shoes have you tried yet? Ooooh, thanks for telling me about them. At first glance, they look really cheap. First thing I noticed with these was the great ankle support, really helped my pivot on my hooks. Maybe a little too grippy but not bad.

And they are narrow, especially the toes. Basically…go with Brain Pad my personal one if you like stiff double-mouthguard and bigger breathing channel or Shock Doctor another good one if you like a softer single-mouthguard that only covers the upper row and a small bit of the bottom row.

Both are great but comes down to personal preference. Hi, Johnny! Tell me, please, what kind of cups do you use? What are the bandages for the groin you use? Can anyone say whats the model;s name for this nike from the picture on top? I guess they are somekind of shox? Definitely get some boxers. Shoes are very subjective because our feet are all different.

So I sent the shoes back and got a pair of Everlast Pivt. Comfortable, not as comfortable as the Venum, but good enough, the outsole rubber is made by Michelin, good grip. Also versatile in that in my group boxing classes, sometimes the coach makes us do circuit conditioning training and these shoes can temporarily act as cross trainers — no need to change into a pair of cross trainers. Always try on different shoes and find a pair that work best for YOU.

Would love info on custom boot makers, if you or other people know anything about that. I also fixed the Di Nardo link. Thanks for letting me know. Thanks a lot for this review! I prefer to read the full information about item before buying it. The same way I do with online casinos. I think it is a great way to learn more about gambling. Any opinions on the Hayabusa Pro Boxing shoes? I saw some in a store and they felt really great, more solid and grippy than the Rival Guerreros!
